Best Pill Reminder Apps in 2026: An Honest Comparison
A fair comparison of pill and medication reminder apps in 2026, including Medisafe, MyTherapy, Max, EveryDose, CareClinic, Doz and TrackPep, with the checklist that matters and who each app suits.
Short answer
The best pill reminder app is the one you will keep using. Medisafe suits people who want US interaction warnings and family pillboxes, MyTherapy suits broader health journaling, Doz suits iPhone users organising by prescription, and TrackPep suits people tracking pills and supplements alongside GLP-1 or peptide injections on any device.
Checked October 22, 2026 against each app's US App Store listing. We build one of the apps below, TrackPep, so read this with that in mind. We only state what each publisher's own listing says. Where we could not verify something, we say "check the listing" rather than guess. Ratings, prices and features change, so confirm before you subscribe.
The short answer
There is no single best pill reminder app. The right one depends on what else you need:
- Medisafe if you want drug interaction warnings in the US, family pillboxes and the largest installed base.
- MyTherapy if you want a broader health journal with measurements, symptoms and reports.
- Max if you want a simple, friendly reminder with family sharing.
- EveryDose if you want interaction alerts and medication leaflets in a reminder app.
- CareClinic if you track many symptoms and health factors alongside medication.
- Doz if you use an iPhone and think in prescriptions, with widgets and Live Activities.
- TrackPep (ours) if you take pills or supplements alongside a GLP-1 or peptide injection and want one checklist on iPhone, Android and the web.
What a good pill reminder app must do
Before the apps, the checklist. These are the things that decide whether an app helps after the first week.
- Reminders that actually arrive. Notifications should fire on time, survive a phone restart and allow snoozing without losing the dose.
- Real schedules. Twice daily, weekdays only, every other day, as needed, weekly. A good app handles all of them on one list.
- Label timing. Before, with or after food, or on an empty stomach. Our guide to label meal timing explains why it matters.
- One-tap logging. Taken and skipped should both be quick, and both should be kept with a time.
- A record you can share. A report or export for appointments and pharmacy reviews.
- Honest privacy. Know whether data stays on the device or syncs to an account, whether you can export it, and how to delete it.
- Clear limits. No app should decide your dose or timing. Interaction checks, where offered, complement a pharmacist; they do not replace one. The FDA advises telling your health professional about every medicine and supplement you take.
The apps compared
Ratings below are the US App Store average and number of ratings shown on October 22, 2026. A high average from a small number of ratings is less informative than one from thousands.
Medisafe
Medisafe Medication Management is one of the most established reminder apps, with a 4.7 average from more than 100,000 ratings. Its listing describes reminders, drug-to-drug interaction warnings in the US, importing medications from health records at participating US health systems, refill reminders, family pillboxes that sync to one account, measurement tracking synced to Apple Health, and PDF progress reports to share with a doctor or nurse. It is free to download, with Medisafe Premium offered in the App Store at $4.99 per month or $39.99 per year.
Choose Medisafe if you want interaction warnings, family pillboxes and a widely used app.
MyTherapy
Pill Reminder MyTherapy, from smartpatient, shows a 4.8 average from about 8,600 ratings. Its listing covers reminders with snooze options, a daily log and calendar, refill reminders, injection-site tracking, blood pressure and weight, a symptom diary, streaks, health reports and family profiles, with Apple Health sync. It is free to download but shows ads; in-app purchases include an ad-free subscription and a MyTherapy Plus lifetime purchase ($49.99 in the US App Store).
Choose MyTherapy if you want medication reminders inside a broader health journal.
Max
Max - Pill reminder shows a 4.8 average from about 9,800 ratings. Its listing describes daily, specific-day and interval schedules, a "taken" button that logs the time, follow-up notifications if a reminder is not acknowledged, and Share & Care so family members can check medication status remotely. It is listed as free.
Choose Max if you want a simple reminder with family sharing.
EveryDose
EveryDose: Medication Reminder shows a 4.8 average from about 5,200 ratings. Its listing mentions customisable schedules, a medication list, drug interaction alerts, medication leaflets and progress reports you can share. EveryDose Plus is a subscription; check the listing for current pricing and trial terms.
Choose EveryDose if you want interaction alerts and drug information in one place.
CareClinic
Symptom Tracker - CareClinic shows a 4.2 average from about 2,300 ratings. It is a wider health tracker: medications, symptoms, measurements, mood, sleep, nutrition and more, with reminders, Apple Health and Fitbit integrations and care teams for family members.
Choose CareClinic if medication is one of many things you want to track and correlate.
Doz
Doz: Pill Reminder & Tracker, by Huy Pham, launched in April 2026 and shows a 4.7 average from 16 ratings. Its listing describes doses organised by prescription, meal-timed and birth-control schedules, supply and refill tracking, Lock Screen wallpapers, a Live Activity countdown, widgets, Apple Health import, adherence insights, and offline-first use with iCloud sync. It lists iPhone and iPad only. Its site says the free tier covers 4 medicines and 1 prescription; Doz Pro ($2.99 per month, $9.99 per year or $19.99 lifetime) adds Critical Alerts that sound through Silent mode and follow-up reminders for unlogged doses. Note that a different app called "Doz: Pill Reminder" exists from another developer. See our TrackPep vs Doz page.
Choose Doz if you only use Apple devices and want prescription grouping with rich Lock Screen and widget reminders.
TrackPep
Ours. TrackPep is a health tracker for iPhone, Android and the web whose Meds & supplements tracker covers prescriptions, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins and supplements. You add each item with the strength as printed on the label, group it by prescription or stack, and set it before, with or after a meal, on an empty stomach or at bedtime, up to eight times a day, on chosen weekdays, every few days, or as needed. Today shows a checklist by moment of the day, one tap records taken or skipped, and adherence history and a streak follow. GLP-1 and peptide injections, meals, water, weight and workouts live in the same app.
What it does not do: TrackPep does not check interactions, count pills, or suggest doses or timing. It has no shared caregiver accounts. The free plan covers three meds and supplements with reminders; Pro removes the cap and adds follow-up reminders, full history and export. See the medication reminder app page.
Choose TrackPep if you take a weekly injection plus daily pills or supplements and want one list across phone and browser.

How to choose in five minutes
- Which devices? If you want to see your list on a laptop, or you switch between Android and iPhone, rule out single-platform apps.
- Do you need interaction warnings? If yes, Medisafe or EveryDose. Either way, have a pharmacist review your full list, including supplements.
- Who else needs to see it? Family sharing varies a lot; check it before you commit.
- What else do you track? A broad health journal, symptom correlations, or injections and meals.
- Start free. Use the free tier for a week before paying for anything.
Bottom line
Most people do well with whichever app they will open every day. Run the checklist, try the free tier, and keep your list current. If you take pills or supplements alongside a weekly injection, we built TrackPep for exactly that. Frequently asked questions
- What is the best free pill reminder app?
- Several well-rated apps are free to download, including Medisafe and MyTherapy, though both offer paid upgrades and MyTherapy shows ads in its free version. Free tiers and paid upgrades change often, so check the current listing. TrackPep's free plan covers three meds and supplements with reminders.
- Which medication reminder app checks drug interactions?
- Medisafe's App Store listing describes drug-to-drug interaction warnings in the US, and EveryDose's listing mentions interaction alerts. TrackPep does not check interactions. Whatever app you use, ask your pharmacist to review your full list, including supplements.
- Is there a pill reminder app for both iPhone and Android?
- Yes. Medisafe and MyTherapy publish apps for both, and TrackPep runs on iPhone, Android and the web with one account. Doz, by contrast, lists iPhone and iPad only on the App Store.
- Can a pill reminder app track supplements and injections too?
- Most apps let you add vitamins and supplements as items. Fewer combine daily pills with weekly injections and other health records. TrackPep keeps pills, supplements and GLP-1 or peptide injections on one Today checklist, with meals, water and workouts in the same app.
