Also known as: alpha-msh-fragment

> PLACEHOLDER — pending clinical review by licensed pharmacist. KPV is a tripeptide fragment of alpha-MSH studied for anti-inflammatory effects. Research compound; not FDA-approved.

Mechanism

A tripeptide (Lys-Pro-Val) corresponding to the C-terminal fragment of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone. In preclinical research it has been associated with anti-inflammatory signaling; the mechanism in humans is not well characterized.

Research summary

Evidence is largely preclinical, exploring anti-inflammatory effects in models of gut and skin inflammation. It is not an FDA-approved drug, and human clinical trial data are limited. Claims should be read against that evidence gap. In July 2026 an FDA advisory committee (the Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee) voted to recommend this compound for the 503A bulk-compounding list. That recommendation is non-binding and is not FDA approval — it would still require formal rulemaking, and no approved clinical evidence of safety or efficacy exists.

Dosing in the literature

There is no established human clinical regimen and human pharmacokinetics are not well characterized. This summary does not provide dosing.

Reported side effects

Controlled human safety data are limited, so the side-effect and long-term safety profile is largely unknown. Sourcing and purity are recurring quality concerns.

Stacking notes

Discussed anecdotally in gut-health and recovery contexts; there is no controlled human evidence supporting specific combinations.
