Survodutide is an investigational GLP-1 / glucagon dual receptor agonist studied for obesity and liver disease. Not FDA-approved. Subcutaneous injection.

Mechanism

An investigational dual GLP-1 and glucagon receptor agonist. The combined activity is hypothesized in research to address appetite and glycemia (GLP-1) alongside increased energy expenditure and hepatic effects (glucagon).

Research summary

Investigational and not FDA-approved. It has been studied for obesity and for metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), with phase 2 results reported and further evaluation ongoing per the literature.

Reported side effects

Gastrointestinal effects are the most commonly reported in trials, consistent with the incretin class. Given glucagon activity, metabolic parameters are monitored. The full safety profile is not yet established.

Educational summary of published research. Not dosing guidance or medical advice.
