> PLACEHOLDER — pending clinical review by licensed pharmacist. Epitalon is a synthetic tetrapeptide (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) originally derived from epithalamin, a bovine pineal-gland extract. Proposed mechanisms include telomerase activation and pineal-gland modulation in preclinical models, but human pharmacokinetic data are sparse. Its short half-life of approximately 1 hour reflects its small peptide nature. Despite limited clinical evidence, epitalon is widely discussed in longevity and biohacking communities for putative life-span extension effects. Users tracking epitalon should maintain a detailed log of dosing protocols and any subjective effects.
Mechanism
A synthetic tetrapeptide (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) studied in relation to the pineal peptide epithalamin. Preclinical work has explored possible effects on telomerase activity and circadian regulation; the mechanism in humans is not well characterized.
Research summary
Most evidence comes from older studies by a limited number of research groups, largely preclinical or small human studies. It is not an FDA-approved drug, and independent modern clinical replication is limited. Claims should be read against that evidence gap. In July 2026 an FDA advisory committee (the Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee) voted to recommend this compound for the 503A bulk-compounding list. That recommendation is non-binding and is not FDA approval — it would still require formal rulemaking, and no approved clinical evidence of safety or efficacy exists.
Dosing in the literature
There is no established human clinical regimen and human pharmacokinetics are not well characterized. This summary does not provide dosing.
Reported side effects
Controlled human safety data are limited, so the side-effect and long-term safety profile is largely unknown. Sourcing and purity are recurring quality concerns.
Stacking notes
Discussed anecdotally in longevity contexts; there is no controlled human evidence supporting specific combinations.
