It stimulates GH release in a dose-dependent manner but can transiently elevate prolactin and cortisol at higher exposures. With a half-life of about 1 hour and a rapid onset (Tmax ~15 minutes), it is typically dosed once or twice daily subcutaneously. GHRP-2 is often stacked with a GHRH analogue for a synergistic GH pulse. Users should log dose timing relative to meals and monitor for side effects such as increased appetite or transient flushing.
Mechanism
A synthetic growth-hormone-releasing peptide that acts as a ghrelin receptor (GHS-R1a) agonist to stimulate growth-hormone release. It can also modestly raise cortisol and prolactin relative to more selective secretagogues.
Research summary
Studied as a growth-hormone secretagogue in early clinical and preclinical work. It is not an FDA-approved therapeutic, and long-term human outcome data are limited.
Dosing in the literature
Early studies used subcutaneous administration under research conditions. There is no approved clinical regimen; this summary does not provide dosing.
Reported side effects
Reported effects include increased appetite, transient water retention, and possible modest increases in cortisol and prolactin. Effects on growth hormone and IGF-1 warrant monitoring in a clinical context. The full profile is not established.
Stacking notes
Often discussed with a GHRH analog such as CJC-1295 in the secretagogue literature; any combination is a clinical/experimental decision.
